WELCOME TO iBIRD FOR ANDROID
In 2008, iBird was the first app to prove that birders didn't need to carry heavy printed field guides into the outdoors to help them identify birds. As long as iBird was on your smartphone, not only you could identify birds, but also play bird songs and calls, review range maps, and much more. iBird represented a large paradigm shift in the world of birding, and Apple helped the world discover this new phenomena through a number of clever video commercials on television, including this one: We have an app for that.
In 2012 we launched iBird for the Android platform and in 2016 we updated the Android version of iBird to be very similar to the iPhone app, with several innovations not found on Apple devices. The most important innovation for the Android apps was separating the database from the app so it could be separately downloaded. This allowed us to offer streaming of species data so the app immediately works after its installed. It also allowed us to let the customer direct the database to their SD Card and keep their internal memory free for just apps.

Table Notes
(1) Birds Around Me (BAM). Uses your GPS location to match just those species that are found in a 25 to 150 mile radius you set. You may also pick the seasons that are used for matching. This helps identify birds by only showing you those that are likely to be in the area you are searching for the season you selected. You may also type in any address you wish to see what species are found at a specific location.
